This is our purpose. This is our mission.

Our mission at FUEL is to help our members build their bodies to be as capable as possible. What does being capable look like? If you have a capable body, it means that you never live in fear of physical limitations. It means always being able to say “I can do that”. Being capable  means being able to take the stairs when the elevator isn’t working. It means you can play with your kids for as long as they want, and not only as long as you can. And it even means that you can look at a mountain and say to yourself “I can climb that”.

Be free from physical limitations. Train to be as capable as you want, and be able to do and live how you want. At FUEL, we are people that DO.

We teach people to learn to enjoy fitness and expressing themselves through movement. People who don’t know they like to move. We are going to help you learn to enjoy movement, and expressing yourself with physical activity.

philosophy Banner.png

There are a lot of gyms out there. Fitness is all the buzz right now. People everywhere trying to sell you the next get fit quick scheme. This is where our gym makes a u-turn and heads the other direction. We are not the 6-week answer to all of your problems. We play the long game in that regard. We are a group of health and fitness professionals that want to educate you and show you the way to a healthier, more capable life.

Fitness has become a commodity, just as health has. We are not the new kid on the block promising you a supermodel body with flashing lights. We have been in the industry for over a decade changing peoples lives through movement and habit building. Born in the CrossFit modality, FUEL has rose above the competition through our multi-disciplined training model. Do we do CrossFit? Yes, but very differently. Our experience has led us to a new level. A level we wish to share with anyone looking to change their life for the better.

Values Banner.png

“There are some values that you should never compromise on to stay true to yourself; you should be brave to stand up for what you truly believe in even if you stand alone.”
― Roy T. Bennett

Our Core Values serve as our constitution. The guiding principles that we craft our program and culture around. All of our coaches and members know what these are and approach each day with these in mind.

We preach exceptional movement at all costs. No matter the intensity, we are always pushing ourselves to move better. Proper movement keeps us safe, and it allows us to perform to our highest potential. Engraining high quality movement patterns in the gym translates to healthy and capable bodies outside of the gym.

We are a tight knit community of people who prioritize our health and fitness. We express that health and fitness through physical performance. Not only do we strive for excellence for ourselves, but we strive and push each other towards excellence as well. Together, our efforts are far greater than alone.

Every workout that we do is challenging, because what doesn't challenge you won't change you. Pushing yourself to work through challenges is extremely rewarding, and builds immense confidence. Hard work also builds character, and fuels progress. We strive to appreciate, and find the fun in working hard. Because when hard work becomes fun, life becomes really easy.

At FUEL we have compiled a dream team of passionate health and fitness professionals. This world class team is ready to help you reach any goals you may have.

Heather Gillespie Owner/Coach Heather has been CrossFitting for nearly a decade and specializes in running our group classes while building the daily programming. She is passionate about movement in general. “I like to help people learn how the body can move and how they can apply that in everyday life both to get more fit and have fun,” she says. “The best thing about coaching anyone is seeing them grow more confident in themselves through movement. To have the members embrace their body and appreciate what it can do is very rewarding.” As a child, Heather dabbled in a lot of individual sports, including recreational gymnastics. In university, she did track and field (mainly pole vaulting). “Up until two years ago, I focused on competitive CrossFit,” she says. “I went to the Games as an individual in 2012 (second in Can West) and 2013 (first in Can West), and I now enjoy CrossFit as a way to stay healthy and fit without the competitive training.” Her favorite quote: “Be. She specializes in the psychology of nutrition/eating and how it affects our well-being. She is passionate about guiding people to make meaningful changes in their lives so they can break through their self-limiting beliefs, and in turn, feel less "stuck." Struggling with addiction and disordered eating in the past, Paige knew from an early age she wanted to help people with their nutrition. After years of trial and error with her own nutrition, she hired a nutrition coach. The accountability and support gave her what she needed to make lasting change. This proved to Paige how powerful and influential a coach can be, which ultimately got her to where she is today. She enjoys being a guide for others to help them move toward personal success. Working out at with the FUEL team for the last year and a half has added amazing results in strength, range of motion, overall fitness, health and above all, a tremendous amount of FUN. Now it is, “I Love” to workout. Thank you team FUEL!”

“When people talk about CrossFit as a “community”, it sounds a little cliche. But since moving to Lethbridge, I’ve met some of the best friends (and Adam) that go beyond the gym. FUEL provides the perfect platform for working professionals to stay connected, active, healthy and/or competitive - while trying to balance a busy work life. The coaches are amazing people and push you to excel, when you would normally call it quits on your own. FUEL does the planning for you - just show up, get fit."

“Fuel is more than just a gym; it’s a community of likeminded people who are all moving in the same direction towards their individual goals. The Culture that has been built at Fuel is like no other, the members and coaches are all supportive and very encouraging. The people who you are training with each day become more than just “other members”, they become your friends, and the gym stops being a chore that you “have to do” and turns into an event that you “get to do”.”

As a member of Fuel Lifestyle and Performance since its inception, I have experienced great happiness in achieving consistent strength gains, better lifting technique and overall greater movement skills. Reaching outside of my comfort zone and working hard is something I value in a daily training environment, and is supported with Fuel’s quality coaching, specific feedback and genuine friendliness. The atmosphere at Fuel always provides motivation, inspiration and a boost of one’s confidence.

"a place to pretend like I'm being chased by a tiger! That instinctual part of being human that needs to run, jump, sweat & be challenged gets satisfied here. I appreciate learning & improving new skills with the feedback & encouragement of the fantastic coaches. I wouldn't be doing what I am today without their guidance. I've tried working out on my own, but can say with confidence now that community environments like FUEL offers are for me"

“My experience at Fuel has been exceptional, I came in with no other expectation but to keep an open mind and try my best at whatever the WOD (workout of the Day) was. I’ve been blown away by the community of athletes that attend the gym and help to provide a positive atmosphere. I’ve learned how to execute total body lifts safely including a barbell snatch, cleans and jerks. I’ve also picked up on the lingo specific to Crossfit.”

"Fuel has been my second home from the day I joined. Its hard to imagine having as much fun training anywhere else. It's just a completely inspiring environment, and I don't just attribute that to the amazing coaching staff. The community of members that go there to train are all trying to bring out the best in each other as much as they are in themselves. That's what I believe makes FUEL such a gem."

My Fuel experience has been great from the beginning (April 2017). Fuel has helped me to reach many goals I never would have thought I could accomplish, while growing as a person and an athlete. The coaches and community at Fuel have supported me throughout my fitness journey as well as my life goals and challenges and I couldn’t ask for anything more!

The days are planned out to allow you to do this without feeling like you are becoming a shell of yourself on Thursday.
